Nigerian mobile numbers or 0201 numbers?
Both are legitimate Nigerian telephone identities. The right choice depends on where the number should signal location, how the call is used and what your customer expects to see.

One signals a mobile network range. One signals Lagos geography.
0201
0201 is a Lagos geographic area code under the National Numbering Plan published by the Nigerian Communications Commission. It identifies a location rather than a network.
Mobile ranges
Nigerian mobile prefixes are allocated to licensed mobile operators under national mobile-number ranges, as set out in the NCC Mobile Number Allocation Table.
Allocation identifies the operator a range was issued to. Number portability means a given number is not guaranteed to remain associated with its original network.

No universal winner
Choose for the workload, then measure.

Number familiarity may matter, but whether a call is answered depends on customer behaviour, calling practice, time of day, the use case, number reputation and other variables outside the number type.
Test both on representative traffic before standardising on either.
A mobile number may suit when:
- the workload is national rather than tied to one location;
- the business wants a mobile identity for outbound and inbound calls;
- customers in that segment mostly communicate by mobile.
A 0201 number may suit when:
- the line represents a Lagos office or location;
- geographic identity is part of what the customer expects;
- inbound calls to a central office are the main pattern.
The real comparison
The alternative should still be a business-owned number.
Many Nigerian teams still call customers from employee personal lines. Both a business mobile number and a 0201 number preserve central control in ways a personal handset cannot.
The number stays with the company
A business-owned number remains with the organisation when staff change roles or leave. A personal line does not.
Call history stays in one place
Calls placed from business-owned numbers appear in the platform’s call records rather than on a private handset.
Recordings where enabled
Recording can be applied to business-owned numbers within the plan allowance. Personal handsets sit outside that control.
Programmability and continuity
Business-owned numbers can be used by software, reassigned between workloads and kept operating through staffing changes.
